Fans from Portugal have overcome 7000 kilometers on a miracle van

Portuguese fans Carlos Broom and Pedro Lobito drove an impressive 7000 kilometers from Lisbon to Saransk to support their favorite team.

Now Carlos and Pedro are in Saransk, having arrived for the match of Portugal against Iran, which will be held on Monday, June 25. Both fans are sure that they will get to the finals on their decorated van.

“We’ve been on the road for three weeks, it took us twelve days to get to Russia,” says Pedro Lobito.

Their bright 17-year-old Mercedes Sprinter is parked next to the Saransk Post Office in a couple of hundred meters from the Festival of FIFA fans. The van is pasted with a lot of photos of football players and fans, as well as tickets for matches – among them there are tickets from Euro 2016, which ended in the triumph of Portugal.

To get to Russia, Carlos Broom and Pedro Lobito left Lisbon and drove through the territories of Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania. They have already visited Portugal matches against Spain in Sochi and against Morocco in Moscow before heading to Saransk.

“We have food, wine, cheese from Portugal. We built a small table, shared it with people and talked about our cultures. We had 180 bottles of wine, now we have less, “Lobito said.

Pedro and Carlos were convinced that the Russians were very welcoming. The police in Saransk even offered them water, seeing the tired Portuguese.

The fans believe that their team has great prospects in the tournament. The team practically qualified for the playoff stage, not even playing at full strength. The captain and star of the team Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals in two games.

“Now Portugal is a pragmatic team. We do not play so beautifully, but we achieve our goal. Cristiano Ronaldo is a true architect of the game. He is always where he is needed, “says Broome.

Lobito adds: “We have tickets to the final. We hope that everything will be fine, and Portugal will be there. “
